I’ve been toiling away in the background working hard to get this year’s Halloween costume done and ready by today’s deadline. Congratulations to me, it is done. Phew. This one nearly killed me, I almost feel empty with it off my plate! Without further ado, I present an Urban Witch….
I know you recognize a few of these accessories, like the hat made from Creative Paperclay“ Modeling Materal and Cathedral window candy bag. The dress and cat are also completely custom and handmade! You’ll hear more about each of them next week (Update – Post is live!), but let me just tell you – the dress worked every nerve I have. I’m not a garment maker and find myself so lost and frustrated though the whole process. Funny thing though – once it is done and walking down the street, I love it. It really hangs nicely and moves beautifully, flowing behind her like wispy little clouds. I almost think she *is* flying on that broom!
I’m going to be honest with you, because I always am… the cat gave me a few fits too. It’s hard working in 3D! I have a whole new respect for plushie makers. It came out pretty good, but I’m betting I can beat this cat and have it come out excellent. I intended to try again just to satisfy that little voice that keeps saying “you CAN do it”.
Check this out… One of our neighbor’s kids had the most awesomest costume on the block. This thing is completely custom and right in my wheel house! I actually SQUEE’d when I saw him wandering around across the street and wasted no time getting over there to grab a picture.
Seriously – you see that right?? Bowser nirvana. I’m going to have to figure out how to make one in my size for the next sci-fi con!!
A quick shout-out to my friend Debbie. She was so helpful and supportive and walked down the isles of JoAnn with my “know nothing about garment making” self. Thanks Debbie! I wouldn’t have been nearly as successful without your help and support.
My facebook wall is full of costumed kids and adults and I LOVE it! If you have a costume or Halloween gag I’ve missed, I want to see it!
