Here’s a project from last year that I was so excited to hang up this year!
It’s a cross stitch pattern from Just Cross Stitch magazine and designer Nancy Greenberg of Pickle Barrel Designs. This project was a big time learning experience for me (as they all seem to be, huh?) Nancy used felt backgrounds with memory thread between the squares to finish up the project, but I decided I wanted to give each square a quilt treatment with hardware between them.
After a bit of trial and error, I found a good stitch length to tightly and permanently attach the quilting fabric to the adia cloth – TINY. I made a mistake and attempted to take one apart. The stitching was so effective, I completely damaged the adia and had to stitch a new square!
I like the hardware between the squares, but for some reason I made it really hard on myself. I had this idea that I would make them so the squares could be swapped out. I put button holes in the back so the metal pieces could be put in and out. I absolutely wouldn’t do it that way again. It is a bit messy and I can think of three better ways right off the top of my head!
Thank you all so much for your kind words regarding the passing of my Mema. Your words of encouragement sprinkled in and always seemed to come right when I needed them. I’m looking forward to catching up with what you all are up to over the next few days and have a fun project for you Saturday.
