Look into my sketches

One of my favorite things in the world to do is look through artist’s sketchbooks. When I see sketches, I get down right giddy. I see freedom in sketchbooks. Moments of the artist’s thought process show in erased lines, things scratched out, do-overs, pen pressures, shading choices, notes in the margin, and other tidbits. The best word I can think of to describe it is intimate.

Now, I don’t dare compare my sketches and doodles to those I just described. Because I enjoy it show much when those types of artists show off their books, I thought I should pay it forward a bit and open mine up too. These are all from a notebook I drug around mostly at work for the last three years. They are mostly in the margins and tied around task lists and meeting notes. The notebook is full and officially retired for a new notebook so I thought it a good time to document those doodles!

Some have become real projects

Most are just doodles

Some are sketches of the things around me

Some are silly

Some are a little abstract

Maybe one day I’ll have the time and inclination to show you the super crazy in the “real” design and planning book. Then you’ll all know just how jumbled my brain is most days! :)-

  3. These are fun to see! I started a quilting sketch book this year for just quilting ideas, and also got a Wreck This Journal, which I’m doing along with my mom. Both are such fun ways to do something creative that isn’t as time consuming or involved as quilting. Your drawings are so varied, and fun to look through.
