Well look at that! I managed to digitize files that are bigger than my hoop! This block absolutely represents a real bump in my learning curve. I tried all sorts of things with it that were way out of my skill set. Reaching out of my skill set, of course, leads to less than perfect work; however, these are my favorite blocks. I can look at it and know that I learned splitting a design with a single stitch straight line like on Omens, Oracles, and Goats is NOT SMART. Just because you can – really doesn’t mean you should! The design file is fine and works beautifully, but straight lines tell all of my secrets and give no room for error. In my book you can see I placed that second hoop slightly cockeyed and the stretch in the fabric around the goat really shows. From Egg to Inferno was a much friendly multihoop design with the egg being one hooping and the dragon/text being the second. Bet you can’t even tell I was off by about an 1/8 of an inch.
Hippogriff Psychology was another real learning experience. I thought I was using my connection stitches right and being super slick. Turns out – I forgot that column stitches don’t start where I think they do! These Hippogriff wings stitch in the craziest order you’ve ever seen. A mess really. It is ok though – now I know and will never repeat that mistake!
Dragon Breeding for Fun and Profit is a pretty straight forward single hoop stitch project. If you are a Disney nerd like me, you’ll see the mash up character instantly. One of my favorites of all time, can you guess? Here’s the sketch that started as a meeting doodle –
The Embroidery Files
Fair Warning – Hippogriff Psychology and Omens Oracles and the Goat leave a bit to be desired. Feel free to download them (.pes, .jef, .vp3) and change them for your use if you’d like!
